About this catalogue
DSBBD ISBN Catalogue is the ISBN catalogue of DSBBD.
What this catalogue is for
Every record has exactly one page, addressed by its ISBN-13. If you have an ISBN from a book’s copyright page, a purchase order, a library record or a barcode, you can paste it in any format and reach the record for that edition.
How records are organized
- An ISBN identifies one edition, not one work. A hardback and a paperback of the same title have different ISBNs and different pages here, cross-linked as other editions.
- Every ISBN is validated against its check digit before a record is published. ISBN-10 identifiers are converted to their ISBN-13 equivalent so a book is never reachable at two addresses.
- Records are grouped by publisher, author and subject, so a single page is always a route into related titles.
- Titles are held in both Latin script and Bengali where both are known. The Latin-script title drives the URL, because an ASCII address survives being pasted into a message or an email; both titles appear on the page.
Completeness and corrections
A record is published only when it carries enough information to be useful. Incomplete records are held back rather than published thin, so a page that exists is a page worth reading.
Real catalogues contain errors, including ISBNs printed incorrectly on the books themselves. If you find a wrong or missing record, tell us — corrections are the cheapest quality improvement available to a catalogue this size.
